From nothing to a published manual
On this page
Sign up and you already have an account, a brand, a manual and a web address. Fill in the sections, then press Publish.
You need nothing but an email address
1. Create the account
Wherestylehub.cloud/register
The sign up form (opens in a new tab) asks for four things and one checkbox.
Tick I agree to the Terms of Service, press Create workspace, and you land on the dashboard (opens in a new tab) already logged in. There is no confirmation email to wait for.
2. What sign up already built
You own a brand, one manual inside it called {Company} brand manual, and the address it is served on. It is the brand's Primary manual, so it sits at the root of the brand address. Three sections come with it:
Brand guidelines.Everything else is a section you add from the block picker. See Every block, and what it holds.
3. Templates, when you create a brand yourself
WhereDashboard, New brand
New brand asks for a Company name, an optional Tagline that becomes the line under the cover heading, and Start from a template. A template creates real sections with empty blocks in them; some sections open with a line saying what belongs there. Nothing is locked afterwards.
| Template | What it builds | Sections |
|---|---|---|
| Complete | Every block there is, in the order a manual is read. Delete the sections you do not need. | 13 |
| Startup | The essentials to get a young brand consistent fast. | 6 |
| SaaS / Product | Brand plus the design system a product team builds against: scales, grid, components and motion. | 10 |
| Agency / Client | A polished, client-ready brand hub with the visual work front and center. | 9 |
| Corporate | A thorough manual for larger organizations, covering every part of the brand. | 13 |
Blank gives you just a cover. The preselected choice is Complete: 13 sections holding 41 blocks, in the order a manual is read. Delete the sections you will not use. How the published page looks is a separate choice under the manual's settings, in The presentation templates.
4. The web address
Your brand subdomain is made from the company name you typed. Acme Inc. becomes acme-inc, and the manual is live at acme-inc.stylehub.cloud as soon as you publish it.
- Letters, numbers and hyphens only. Long names are shortened.
- If the name is taken, a short random suffix is added.
- Names the platform reserves, such as
www, app, api, docs, adminandhelp, get-brandappended. - The brand subdomain cannot be changed afterwards. Settings (opens in a new tab) shows it with the line The subdomain is fixed to keep public links stable.
Each manual can also have a Web address of its own. New manual requires one; the Web address card under a manual's settings changes it later. At least 3 characters, letters, numbers and hyphens. The field checks as you type and says whether the address is available, already taken or reserved by the platform. Clear it and the manual lives under the brand address instead: at the root if it is the primary manual, at /its-slug otherwise. See Addresses and Custom domains.
5. Fill in the first sections
WhereDashboard, Brand manual, Content
Open the manual and you are in the Content tab. Type into a block and it is saved for you: the foot of each section reads Changes save automatically, and Save now beside it writes immediately.
- Cover. Replace the heading and subheading.
- Colors. Each color with its hex value and what it is for. This block also fills the color group of the design token export.
- Typography. The typefaces, and the scale that sets sizes.
- Logo. Not there yet: press + Add a block at the foot of a section, choose the Logo block, then add the versions of the mark, the clear space, and the uses that are not allowed.
- Delete what you will not fill. Deleting a section removes it and its blocks permanently.
Block by block detail is in The editor. Uploading files is in Uploading files.
6. The list on the dashboard
Get your brand hub ready sits at the top of the dashboard (opens in a new tab) with a progress bar. Each step links to the page that finishes it:
- Write a cover heading
- Add your brand colors
- Add your typefaces
- Upload your logo
- Upload files your team can download
- Publish the manual
The card removes itself once all 6 are done, and the completeness score takes its place. See Completeness and governance.
7. Publish
WhereDashboard, Brand manual, the Publish button above the tabs
Press Publish and the header changes from Draft to Published, and the link in that header is live. Until then the address shows a reader only Not published yet. Publishing also saves a version you can compare against and restore from. See History and versions.
Three buttons sit next to it:
Who may press it
Owner, Admin and Editor can publish. Viewer cannot, and sees no Publish button at all. See Roles.
Who may then read it
A newly published manual is Public. Change that under the manual's settings:
Which modes your plan includes, and what an expiry date does, is in Who may see a manual. What search engines are told is in Search engines.
Unpublishing takes the page down at once
Later edits
By default an edit is on the public page as soon as it is saved. A manual can instead hold changes back until somebody releases them, with a Publish changes button above the editor. See Reviewing before publishing.
What the Free plan gives you here
Sign up already made a brand and a manual, and on Free that is most of what the plan allows. When you reach the limit, New brand says so and offers an upgrade.
| Free | Pro | Business | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brands you own | 1 | 5 | 25 |
| Manuals per brand | 1 | 10 | 100 |
| People in a brand | 3 | 15 | 100 |
Every number, and what a downgrade does to work already made, is in What each plan includes and What a downgrade freezes.
